It is a beautiful and majestic animal that truly belongs in the wild nature of Slovakia. European bison do not have a very large territory. We can determine quite precisely where they live, the routes they use, and how and where they move throughout the year. A female gives birth to a calf once every two years. Today, their population is around 60 individuals in two herds. Adult bulls weigh between 530 and 920 kilograms, while females are smaller. The herd is led by an experienced cow, usually the oldest one. European bison can live up to 35 years.
